Activate trip computer on Fiesta Studio

Featured Replies

Hello, sorry if this has been mentioned before but I couldn’t find anything. My 2014 Fiesta Studio doesn’t have a trip computer and I would quite like to be able to view my mpg and things. I have heard a lot about forscan and was wondering if this would allow me to activate the trip computer.

Also I would like to know the risks involved because I’m quite new to this and don’t want to end up breaking my car. Thanks guys

Hi Luke, the short quick answer is 'No' sorry.

It is still very much worth getting a laptop and down loading FORScan (It's free) as there are still things you will be able to add / tweak etc. Also in the event that you get an engine management light come on you will be able to read the Ford specific DTC's.

You will also need to buy a connection lead. I recommend the new 'vLinker FS' lead which works with the latest version of FORScan and is suitable for newer Ford models like yours. Always remember before making any changes to make a back-up of the Module first, and then if things go wrong you can go back to the original.

If you look at some posts on the forscan forum, you can do it however just be aware like anything u do have the possibility (very small possiblity) of bricking your car doing it

That's useful information, Neb_engineer, I had thought that the Fiesta Studio lacked some physical kit (possibly to do with the IC) but good to know it is possible.

That is good to know. Thanks. I’m quite new to this and don’t know if I want to risk bricking my car

I don’t know if it can be done or not , but first thing, does studio have a button on end of indicator stalk which is needed to through the options (trip, range, current mpg, average mpg, average speed)

No it doesn’t. It uses a button on the instrument cluster. I had another look and I saw someone in America do it where they filter through the settings using the button on the instrument cluster. But I know that the vehicles vary from the European to American so not sure if it would work.
