Spark Plugs - Focus Mk3 1.0 (125) Ecoboost

Featured Replies

Hi,

Was wondering if anyone had any rough estimates on how long the spark plugs tend to last on the above vehicle?

Also - any idea what type is usually fitted as standard? Chopper, iridium or platinum?

Many thanks,

C

Ford service says 37500 miles  (60,000 kM)

The 1st generation of the 1.0 ECOboost requires NGK SILZNAR8C7H spark plugs (the original Ford spark plugs are rebadged NGK SILZNAR8C7H spark plugs).

These spark plugs contain both Platinum and Iridium (which explains the high price for these spark plugs).

Last year I fitted Bosch plugs to mine. What risks am I running by not using the NGKs?

None, it is basically a matter of personal preference as the Bosch ones will perform just as well as the NGK ones 👍

Thanks for the response. Great info.

Those NGK plugs look like pretty good spec plugs for a standard part!

They had to be for emissions regulations.  Same as original cats costing a lot due to high precious metal content...aftermarket cats are only designed to pass MOT.

Are these 'Product No. 1 685 720’ the Ford-badged NGK SILZNAR8C7H you mention?
