A driver has been cut free from the wreckage of a car after an accident on an M20 slip road where a lorry toppled onto two cars.

Kent Police said the motorist was taken to hospital with serious head injuries after the crash at junction 10, just after 0650 BST.

The second car driver managed to get out of his vehicle with minor injuries.

Roads in the area were closed for several hours and other motorists were warned of congestion and delays.

A woman is in hospital with serious injuries after a Sainsbury's lorry fell on her car.

The incident happened at about 6.50am this morning on the roundabout at junction 10 of the M20 motorway.

Police, ambulance and the fire brigade were all called to the scene and the junction was closed off.

M20 junction 10 crashFire crews began cutting the woman out at 7.15am and she was rushed to the nearby William Harvey Hospital just after 7.20am with serious head injuries.

The lorry driver is understood to be unhurt.

It is understood the lorry toppled over onto her maroon Ford car as it went round the roundabout.

Traffic is being diverted up the Hythe Road towards the town centre.

Forensic officers remain at the scene and the junction is expected to be closed for several hours while forensic tests are carried out.

Highway officers and the Environment Agency will are also at the scene as diesel is on the road and leaking into a drain.

Two hours earlier another lorry overturned on a stretch of the M20 near Maidstone.

Oh dear... no car could be expected to stand up to that punishment. :(

Not something you see everyday

Looks serious

Ouch ouch ouch. Hope she recovers.

As an aside - @ 'maroon' Ford car
