S-Max 2nd Row Seats wont lock in place

Featured Replies

The second row seats (drivers and passenger side) on my S-Max will not lock in place. They now move freely on the rails and despite searching and looking online I cant find a fix. I went to my local Ford dealership today and they said you cannot buy individual parts for the seat base, it comes as a fixed unit (CA15011045<60B01A) and they will be a minimum of £650 each! Both seats operate perfectly on all other functions ie recline, fold flat, back moves forward to allow access to the rear, so I cannot understand why now they will not lock in place. The middle seat is fine and moves/locks OK. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Can you completely remove each of the problem seats to see what the problem is. I think it's unusual that both seats have failed - or has it been used as a taxi?

Maybe the runners attached to the floor have worn, rather than the seat, and it's the runners that need to be replaced.

Also, I did have one instance where I had similar symptoms to yours which was cured by removing a child's crayon that was stopping the spring-loaded catch from catching/locking.

Thank you for the reply. it hasnt been used as a taxi that I am aware and I am trying to remove the sears now. Just having a few issues with a couple of very stubborn star headed screws... Looking at the diagram I received from Ford parts dept yesterday it looks like the runners are all part of the sealed base unit, hopefully when I get the seats out I will be able to see more. Thanks again.

The seats are out after having a few issues with a couple of rusted bolts! No blockage on either set of rails they just will not lock into place at all when the leaver is released. The springs look well worn so it could be sadly just wear and tear or they have been abused in a previous life! Looks like its going to be plan B and will have to buy some replacement second hand seats. If anyone is interested then these are the parts that you can order from Ford for the base of the seat.

Sorry I can't help any further (not that I really helped you with my first reply!!!) but thanks for taking the time to update the thread.
