2022 Fiesta Recomended fuses to tap for dash cam

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I'm new here and looking for advice on which fuses to tap into for a 3 wire hardwire of a dash cam.

The cam is a Viofo A229 duo.

I'm having trouble identifying on that is live as long as the ignition (keyless) is on and doesn't cut out when the auto engine cutout kicks in when stationary.

and one that is permanently live for parlimg mode operation.

Any advice greatfully recieved.

Hello Clive, I know your problem only too well. I fitted my dashcam (only two wires) to a supply which I thought went on and off with the ignition - which it did. However I found it also went off when the Start/Stop system killed the engine.

Try fuse 4 (20 Amp) - Lock/Unlock circuit - Constant Live

and fuse 6 (30 Amp) - Right hand door mirror & window - Switched Live via ignition

It maybe a case of trial and error with the unknown behavior of the Start/Stop system.

Thanks unofix, I'll take a look at them. Appreciate the pointer.

On mine fuse 4 is "Ignition Switch. Push button ignition switch". Probably not a good ide to use that?

and 6 is the moonroof.

I don't have the moonroof fitted and assume that would be ignition controlled so may try that for the switched supply.

It seems that Ford struggle to keep all there drawings and information up to date. Looks like the fuse positions in your box are "plus 1"

Fuse 4 is now Fuse 5

Fuse 6 is now Fuse 7

The moonroof since you don't have it might not have the contacts fitted it the fusebox, and if it is the same as the panoramic roof in the Focus it will remain on even after the ignition is turned off, until the drivers door opens.
