Air conditioning diagnosis

Featured Replies

Hello all, after years of help from this forum it has come to the time for me to make my own post.

I have a Mk7 fiesta zetec, and last year the AC wasn't working. I got a recharge and it worked fine. It was still working in march of this year, when I last tried to use it. However, recently, when I have tried to use it, there is no click on and off, and no cold air is emitted. Today I went to Kwik fit who recharged it, and it worked a tiny bit, but the whole time it was on I could hear a whistling noise from under the hood. I called them up about this and they said it could be my compressor or a small leak as the diagnosis does not find all small leaks. I went on a 10 minute drive and then stopped driving. After returning to my car about an hour later I tried to use the AC again, and it would now not turn on at all and the whistling noise was not there anymore. I am very confused what could be wrong with it, does anyone have any suggestions?

Many thanks

Sounds like it has a leak. I believe they can put dye in it that shows up when a certain light is shone on it to highlight where the leak is. Fixing aircon can become expensive.
