Sync Issue

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Apologies if this has already been discussed or should be in another area (new member here!)

I recently updated to the most recent version of Sync 3. After the update, sync is now very slow, and takes a lifetime to do anything. However, if i leave the USB containing the update in a slot then everything runs as normal (just states updating software) for a few minutes.

I have read that sometimes if you update the maps (mine requires a map update) then sometimes it fixes the issue, but im reluctant to do this as it could make it worse. Has anyone ever had the same issue or found a fix for it?

Thanks!

What version have you updated to ?

I didn't think that the 2016 models could be updated to Sync3.4 but I may be totally wrong.

The earlier models cannot be updated to 3.4 via the official Ford Sync website, they are capped at 3.0, but you can update to the latest 3.4 and F11 maps with the CyanLabs updater. My S-Max was on 3.0 when I got it but is now on the very latest and has no problems at all. The fact that yours seems to work better with the USB in the slot suggests that it has not completed the process properly. I strongly recommend going the CyanLabs route - I am in Northamptonshire on the border with Bedfordshire so am willing to help if you need it.

Thanks guys, sorry I hadn't replied sooner. The version I'm currently running is version 3.0 - build 20204 apparently, so not running 3.4.

Wondering if something didn't install right, do you think i should to the Cyanlabs route then?

I went Cyanlabs and have not regretted at all. As long as you have a decent, branded, USB stick and correctly fill in the initial information that it asks, then it does everything for you.
