Engine Noise While Driving

Featured Replies

Hi everyone

New user here and was wondering if anyone can help with any suggestions.

I bought a 53 plate Fiesta 1.4 Duratec last week with 90k on the clock. The car starts fine and idles lovely when just left running. However when driving and from 2nd gear upwards the engine continually sounds like I need to change up a gear, as though its revving higher than it actually is, even when I'm just knocking about round town, but it gets really loud when drivin down a dual carriage way etc.

Also it can seem quite sluggish around 3rd and 4th gear as though something is holding it back.

I carried out an oil and filter change today and also replaced the air filter. I will add that the plastic flute is missing which goes between the pipe out of the air box and the intake on the front grill.

Can anyone offer any advice? Thank you in advance.

Gary

I would say maybe a collapsed catalytic converter or bad MAF.
