2020 Fiesta volume control not working

Featured Replies

Bit of a strange issue, which i can't find much information about online. Ford Fiesta ST-3 2020 running ford sync 3.4 updated to the latest version, suddenly can't change the volume of the audio of both the radio or through android auto.

any ideas aside from disconnecting the battery & resting sync, because both of these didn't work annoyingly.

edit: just to clarify, the buttons work if you hold them down, it shows volume on minimum for a couple seconds, but am unable to actually adjust the volume with both head-unit wheel or steering wheel buttons.

Try and do a hard reset in the infotainment system. I had a problem in which the rear right door speaker was making a buzzing sound and that solved the issue.

Check this post, it has that info.

Edit:just noticed that you tried doing that, to no avail.

In that case, it's better to take it to the dealership. Maybe they can solve it quickly.

I’m guessing you have the B&O enhanced system? There was a post regarding this ages ago, and it was either connections to the under seat amp or the amp had gone faulty.

I do yeah, that car is 2 years old, was working one day and not the next so it's a real weird thing to happen. It is under warranty still fortunately, taking it into Ford next week and they're going to have a look. They said they have seen the issue before, so hopefully they know the fix. 🤞 Wish me luck 😅

Sorry to ask but has anyone got to the bottom of this.  My 2019 has done the same. Volume off and stick at 0. Worked next time car was driven. Also it sometimes forgets what volume level it was on and when you press up or down it says 0 then changes to what it should be.  Booked into ford but they can't see it till 2 days after warranty runs out.

It has been reported that it requires a software update of the APIM.

As long as it is booked in now it should not be a problem that the warranty has expired since the fault has been reported.

Sorry, should have updated this when i fixed it, was a bit of a weird situation for me as my car is a 3 door and i only realised after i fixed it, how it had stopped working....

If you have B&O then the amp is under the drivers seat, in the case of my fault, i had moved the drivers seat forward and back to access the rear seats, the cable for the heated seat or sensor had got caught on the cables that go into the amp, somehow pulling only the ground wire from the plug, this meant it hadn't got power and so the sound system wouldn't have shown working to the cars computer.

Was going to take it to ford, but no doubt they would have wanted to keep the car for ages and take the seat out etc, after a bit of bodgery with some solder the cable was put back into the plug and everything fired up again.
