Fiesta Metal Mk6 exhaust

Featured Replies

I have a Fiesta Metal and the exhaust is too noisy for my wife,it has a straight pipe to back box which I am not sure it’s got any insides, also has anyone got an original diagram so I can see what it should look like, and also if I put a difference back box would that tone the noise down ?

Metal Mk6 exhaust, well that gave me a laugh. I was just thinking can you get plastic exhausts these days ? 🤣

This is the Ford parts catalogue for the Fiesta:

The Metal (normally referred to as a,Mk 7 on here, btw) had a similar mechanical spec to the second run of the S1600 including a twin outlet exhaust which was certainly noisier than the normal Zetec S. Yours may have been subsequently fitted with an aftermarket exhaust, though.

Thanks for the advice I am still looking for a diagram if anyone can put a link on here

Broken off earlier by a delivery man leaving a parcel for next door!

Mention of a straight pipe to back box makes me think what you have fitted is an aftermarket system. I doubt the original Ford system would have come without a front silencer but can't find a pic or diagram of the original.

As the Metal is now pretty rare it may not be possible to obtain an OEM system now. A 1.6 Titanium or Zetec S system would probably fit and may sound a little quieter but as standard they had a single downturned tail pipe and would look odd and may lose some performance.

There are loads of aftermarket systems out there (Milltek, Scorpion, Cobra, etc, etc) but as far as I can see all come with just a straight through front pipe and a rear box so may not be quieter than what you have fitted.

Alternatively if you have an exhaust specialist in your area they may be able to cobble together a system.

Unfortunately most people who want to change their exhaust seem want to make it louder.

Just skimmed that on latest posts and genuinely thought 'How careless can a delivery guy be to break an exhaust?'...thought he'd trodden on it or something.  Think I need some fresh air!

I think you do!😀

Well done, that man! Funny thing - tried doing that earlier by putting in as much detail as we had about the car and none of the engine etc info came up. Just done it again leaving all the boxes "not selected", hit "next page" and up it came!😀

It does seem to confirm though, that the OEM system would have had a front silencer so whatever is on there now is either aftermarket or someone has replaced the front box with a piece of straight pipe.
