Protest at F1 Silverstone, 2022

Featured Replies

Yesterdays F1 race at Silverstone was unusual, it had drama, excitement, and was genuinely thrilling to watch. That crash right at the start was terrifying seeing that car flip over then skid upside down, sparks flying, before flipping over again. A decade ago, that would have resulted in a fatality, but thankfully, the new halo technology allowed the young driver to walk away without a scratch.

However, a much more sinister activity took place in that some environmental nutters planned a 'sit down' on a live F1 track where cars approach 200Mph.  However, with impeccable timing, they invaded the track minutes after the race had been suspended following the crash. If they had achieved storming onto a live race track, the consequences would almost certainly have resulted in loss of life.

It is to the mainstreams media credit that last night, despite extended coverage of the race on both BBC & ITV news, that they didn't waste one second of time reporting the activity of these morons! Well done...

I loved the sky commentary about the protesters. Once they knew all the drivers involved in the crashes were ok, they made one little remark. "Unlucky for the protestors who came onto the track, the race had already stopped." And that is pretty much all that got said about them.

And I agree Stephen, the crash was horrible, but just shows how good some of the safety tech now is.

Yes well done. Anarchists hate it when no one pays any attention to them.
