Dashcam stop/start

Featured Replies

Have a dashcam viofo a119 v3 hardwired on mk8 fiesta active, it works fine but when stopped at red traffic lights etc the dashcam switches off when autostop kicks in, dashcam restarts when car starts again.

I can overcome this by switching the auto stop start off at the switch but most times I forget. 🙄

Anyone found which fuse on mk8 fiesta active 1 will be  live while ignition is on but not affected by start/stop function?

I'm thinking when autostop kicks in and restart is is quick the dashcam powering down and trying to power up again before power down process is finished wont do the electronics much good reducing the lifespan of dashcam.

You have my sympathy 😧

I had exactly the same problem of my Focus Mk4. Thought I'd made a nice job of installing the dashcam until the first time Stop/Start activated at a junction and the dashcam turned off with the engine.

Since I personally think the Stop/Start system is a meaningless bit of junk, I've fitted a little gizmo that automatically turns off the system every time I get in the car. So the problem kind of got fixed by default, albeit that I have since found a fuse that seems to remain live when Stop/Start activates. On my car it is Fuse 3 for the 'parking assist control module'.

It should be the same Fuse 3 on your car

I had a similar problem with an older A119, though the camera still worked fine after 4 years and 3 different cars (2 stop start models) so lifespan may not be a concern.

Does the 12v socket switch with SS?  Wouldn't think phone charging would take kindly to that!  If it does, then you'll need an audio or HVAC fuse.

Even then, the camera may switch due to low voltage under cranking after SS.

MK8 Fiesta definitely has an ignition switched live, which stays live during stop/start.

I had my dashcam stay on with my Fiesta Mk8, I just can't remember which fuse it was.

Fuse number 3 (10 Amp)

I just found your old post 👍

Found a pge with fuse box numbers etc for 2017 - 2019 fiesta + earlier models, mine is 2019.

Shows fuse 3 as 7.5A protecting the instrument cluster. Is this the same one as you suggest, different from 10A?.

That's the wrong fusebox for your car.

Yours is a Mk8 and that fusebox is the Mk7.5
