Automatic door locking Vignale 2021

Featured Replies

Hi

Has the Fiesta Vignale 2021 any way of setting the doors to automatically lock once I start driving. I cannot find an explanation in the hand book. Can anyone help please

thanks Sue

No.  Ford stopped this feature several years ago.

It's basically covering thier own backs in case the doors failed to unlock in an accident.  If you've locked the doors yourself, and they failed to unlock, Ford can't be sued for that.

If you crash a Mustang, I don't think you'll need to worry about doors opening.

That is interesting though.  I wonder why they've allowed it on those.

No idea, and the door opening is electric too. Just push a button on the door and the catch releases . A plunger pops out and opens the door a bit. Even the handle on the inside is electrically operated from what I remember.

As already said above it is no longer a feature on UK/European models, but.....

The auto drive away locking is available it just needs to be activated using the software FORScan. It's less than a 10 minute job.

and before you think of asking, 'no' your local Ford dealer won't do it.

I wonder what happens if the 12v battery goes flat.  Guess there must be some sort of manual release somewhere?

If the battery goes flat , there's a positive and negative connector behind a small panel in front bumper. Put 12v to that and normal operation of locking will happen. Then pop bonnet and you have access to 12v battery to jump or charge.

Sounds like an idea that Tesla might be interested in, I know James May would be 🤣
