My Ford Foucus 02 registered ,has just developed a problem, that when the fuel gets to a quarter of a tank, the car does not pull very well,(fuel starvation?) stopping the car and opening the fuel

filler cap appears to fix the problem for a short while, we have fitted a new filler cap but the problem persists, I am not sure whether this only happens an a very hot day. Putting more petrol in seems to fix it.
