Service Schedule

Featured Replies

Hi, as I am still awaiting delivery of my Puma ST, I still have my Fiesta.

Anyway, received an email today saying the service is due.

The car had it's 2 year service November last year, so it wouldn't be due until November but I have been told the schedule is to be serviced every 2 years.

We did ask this scenario if we were waiting after the 3 years for the new car to arrive to be told by the salesman that they would sort Ny service and mot for us as well as extending the contract monthly if necessary.

We just assumed it would need a 3rd year service and have never been told different until I was alerted to the every 2 year or 18,000 mile schedule.

Is this correct, no service on 3 years, just MOT?

Thank-you.

Have an oil and filter change  (or the Ford value service) with the MOT - you might even get a discount off the MOT -  and I had a minor service at year 2 as well

If the car doesn't have to have a service, what I am saying is it won't get one. Hopefully I will have the Puma before this date arrives.

If the dealer wants to service the car when they MOT it, they are quite welcome to do so if they keep their word and cover the costs.

Car had 2yr service last November and has currently only done 7.8k.😁

Which year and engine is it?

My local dealership also sent an email saying the service was due at 1 year...and warranty would be void if not done!  When I questioned them about it, they just said it was optional, to keep the roadside assistance.  Didn't seem very optional from the email though.

Assuming it's new enough to be on 2-yearly servicing, then there is no requirement to have a 3rd year service.

If it has the new chain drive engine I agree but if It's still got the wet cambelt you should have a yearly oil change

Why?  The OP isn't keeping the car.  It's getting returned as soon as possible.  Longevity is not a consideration in this case.

Hi, rang dealer today and they confirmed my car does not need another service until its 4th birthday or it reaches 18,000 miles.

Neither will affect me, so I guess it is someone else's problem.

I did ask why I had been contacted saying it was due, it is sent out by the system apparently. If I hadn't realised or questioned it then I would have been 200 to 300 quid out of pocket potentially if the dealer wasn't going to cover the cost.

As far as I know, mine is wet belt, the Wife's Mhev is chain.

They told the Mrs not to bother with the 1 year health check as they had withdrawn from the Ford Assist plan so it wouldn't actually be worth her doing. 2nd year service is due end of December I think.

Like many others on here, my car has had oil/filter changes at 12 months maximum as I don't have a fixed replacement schedule and am struggling to find anything I want to buy anyway. However, if I was in Martin's position I'd probably do likewise and let the dealer/future owners have the worry, tbh.

It does once again illustrate the problem with the extended service interval on wet belts though.

I'd be extremely wary of buying a used wet belt ecoboost given what we know, particularly if, as I presume is the case here, it's had only one oil change in 3 years, even if that is in line with the official service interval.

Hmm, with this happening at two separate franchises in totally different areas of the country, I do wonder how many people have been caught out by it.

I bet they have if not aware of the schedule. Blaming the "system" rolled off of the tongue very quickly also.... 🤔
