Who is the best non OEM Ford Fiesta spare parts manufacturer?

Featured Replies

I'm researching about replacing MK6 Fiesta suspension springs and I found several manufacturers with prices rangin from 14 -25 (the OEM is £57).

So I'm wondering whether the parts quality is hugely different from OEM to non-OEM?

And what is generally considered the best non-OEM manufacturers for Ford fiesta?

Is it clear who is the official supplier of parts for Ford (made in Cologne)?

Do you want quality after market springs, in which case you can pay £80 to £100 ?

Or do you want cheap replacement springs which can be found on eBay for £30 ?

You get what you pay for generally.

Well that is exactly my question: Does OEM REALLY worth the extra charge (almost 3x the price)?

To be pedantic OEM means Original Equipment Manufacturer which means Ford or their parts supplier - not an aftermarket third party supplier.

Considering the OE Mk7 springs like to snap regularly, I wouldn't say it is worth paying extra for originals!

I'd go with Sachs from your list.  Or Eibach if you want lowering springs.

Thanks for the tip.

Are there any info on roughly how often suspension springs of Ford Fiesta fail (assuming usual driving)?

I briefly worked at Ford in 2011 and the Mk7's were already snapping springs by then...they'd only been on sale a couple of years by that point!  It's all down to luck really...if you mostly drive on smooth roads then they'll probably last a while, if you're bouncing in & out of potholes every day they won't last so long.

I've experienced a snapped spring going through a tyre myself, and seen several more over the years.  Luckily mine was only at 30mph and less than a mile from home.  If you're concerned about the state of yours, and regularly drive long distance or at speed, I wouldn't risk leaving them personally.
