soper1981
Hi all, I recently bought a 2005 1.4 zetec climate petrol. I need to change the engine air filter but can work out how to get to it. I have disconnected the 2 pipes and unscrewed the 2 bolts on top but can seem to get in the box?? Silly I know but it's stumped me!! Thanks.

I've never owned that particular car, but I've had lots of Fords and all the recent ones have spring slips around the air filter box. Normally just unclipping these would allow the air box to split in 2 allowing easy access to the filter. You shouldn't need to undo anything else. Hope this is of use. The rear of the housing is held in place by 2 grommets that go over studs. They can be extremely stiff to lift off, I found by raising the front of the box, slide something like an oval hammer handle (or something that fits snugly into the gap) between the rear of the box and the top on the engine then twist the handle etc raising the box and popping it off the studs. Try to prise the box as close to the studs as possible, one left one right, easy ! then its about 10 torx screws to split the housing to get at the filter.... I cut a piece of sponge to replace the oil breather filter when replacing the filter. Simples
