Unable To Get Into Gear

Featured Replies

Hi all

My Mk7 has now had its first service at 12k, dodgy lease plan sent it to a small garage rather than a main dealer

Anyway! driving down from Lincoln on the M1 and didnt stop untill I hit the M25, which was slow, went to change down for the first time and no gears, tried all and wouldnt go in, luckly very slow traffic so stopped and forced it in, after that seemed ok, untill I went the next 40 miles with out stopping and did it again, but today on the short hops junction to junction its ok.... any thoughts?

Friday I will be driving to Newcastle so if its a clean run I should get a couple of hundred miles with out stopping to try again..

Also the wheel spinning light came (esp) on for a few miles after it came out of the garage, but that has gone away, and im pretty sure I wasnt sat in a line of traffic with the wheels spinning, lol

Never a dull moment with this fiesta!

My Dad had exactly the same issue with a (then almost new) 1988 Escort; turned out to be faulty gearbox desigh & the 'box had to be rebuilt with modified parts - all done under warranty.

Ford have realigned the gear linkage, dont hold out a lot of hope as they have done this before to this car. think its just something they say!!!!!! it feels like you haven't pressed the clutch down to select the gear...

Could be a faulty clutch ?
