unofix
Today 8th September 2022, Queen Elizabeth II has died. The longest reigning British monarch in history. I pay my respects to her majesty Queen Elisabeth. 7 1
Popular Post Turvey
She was a mum, grandmother and great grandmother who was working up until 2 days before her death aged 96. For that alone she deserves respect whatever folks views on royalty.
Eric Bloodaxe
As various commentators have said, HM was a fixture in most of our lives for as long as most of us can remember. My life more or less exactly coincided with her reign - I was born about the time when she came to the throne so I've always felt she was "just there" . Also in another coincidence my mum was nearly the same age as the Queen. I'm not the most sentimental type but I'm not ashamed to admit I was too upset to comment yesterday and felt a sense of loss almost akin to that when I lost my own mum. Yes, as Kevin says, a lady who greatly deserves the respect in which she is held, irrespective of your stance on the monarchy issue. I almost felt this week as if HM had somehow willed herself to keep going to perform a last constitutional task - the change of PM. I also wish Charles III well, though how anyone could follow the example set by his mother is impossible to imagine.
