Rear Bumper Cracked.

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

I was coming back home late night and a girl on another car hit my car from behind cracking my car's rear bumper. I checked the car at that time, i didn't spot the crack so had to let go the girl. Next morning i checked again and there was a foot long crack. Now that i don't have her contact or anything i have to get it fixed myself

Can you please let me know how much would it cost get it fixed? Can it be repaired or do i have to get it changed?

Thanks

Mine was cracked like that after someone drove into the back of me. I just left it. I felt there was no point in fixing it. Luckily i spotted it at the time.   I said to them I could have the bumper replaced which would cost over £500 or if they give me a hundred quid cash then I won’t repair it and just accept that for the devaluation of the car.  They were very pleased that they could just pay me that and not have to involve insurance companies and I didn’t want all that hassle either.  I was not planning on selling the car for years so it didn’t matter to me.   Bear in mind if you get it repaired / bumper replaced you could easily end up with a bumper of a slightly different shade which will look worse than a cracked bumper. So perhaps think about leaving it as it is.  Leaving it as it is is of course free of charge.

Same thoughts. But how much would it devalue my car if i'm sale it ?

There are mobile technicians who will fix it. Specialists in plastic bumper repairs  They should give you a free no obligation quote.  I'm guessing less than £200, but you'll have to see what they say.

Very hard to say how much it is devalued. The car is 13 years old going by your profile. If I was viewing  a 13 year old car the crack in the rear bumper would not put me off or devalue it to me . On a 13 year old car there are many more important things to me than a crack in the bumper.  But some people will focus on things like that. I focus on things which affect the use of the car.
