MK7.5 bonnet on a mk7 fiesta

Featured Replies

Hi, just wondering if the mk7.5 bonnet with the two creases down the middle would fit straight onto a mk7 fiesta. My bonnet needs replacing and I thought whilst I’ve got the opportunity I might as well see if I can make the front end look nicer. Just unsure about the fitment and want to be certain before I decide to buy anything that potentially won’t fit my car. A lot of listings with these bonnets say mk7/mk7.5 but something tells me I should get advice before I make a decision

Hi Daniel,

Similar questions come up frequently with people wanting to put the facelift (Mk 7.5) bumper and grille on a Mk 7. It can be done but the headlights are also different so it's a case of bumper, grille, lights and bonnet.

Pretty sure I read of one guy who'd modded his 2009 Fiesta MK7 to look like a MK7.5, sourced everything, wheels too, he even swapped out the whole interior changing it from ford blue to the black & grey colour, daytime running headlamps & rear led lights fitted, front & side sills & rear spoiler fitted, an eagle eyed traffic cop spotted the car but the reg plate didn't correspond with the model/year, so the copper pulled the car over to question the driver about the car, car owner explaining everything what he'd done, then the copper asking if he has informed his insurance company of the modifications as it might not be insured correctly because of the heavy modifications to the entire outside..... Think his insurance was void.

All the hassle in doing this I'd think sod this and just buy a MK7.5.....So cheap to buy now.

Judging by the amount of mods fully needed to convert, you might be better off just modifying the bonnet. Like if there's a bodyshop that can punch in some nice retro louvers, or even put in some bonnet vents just to make it different... Much cheaper than forking out all that money on changing so much, for so little.

If I read Daniel's OP correctly, I don't think he was interested in modifying his car to a great degree. He seems to need a new bonnet anyway and has found a Mk 7.5 version and wondered if it would do the job and update the car a little at the same time?

As already mentioned, it will fit but not without the other parts for the Mk 7.5 front end (lights, wiring, bumper grille, etc) which turns a small-ish job into a much bigger and more expensive one with the other implications we've mentioned.
