Ford Fiesta MK6 Clutch Pedal Problem

Featured Replies

Had a new clutch fitted last year and everything was okay.

Just recently when changing gear the clutch pedal intermittently goes right down to the floor.

I have had a look at the clutch master slave where it joins the rod that the clutch pedal is on and believe it is working loose.

I have tried to push it back on but with no effect :-(

Anyone got any ideas how to solve this?

It is common for that rod to slide off the peg. But I’m not sure if that can answer why you sometimes have a problem because once it comes off I’m sure it could never go back on on its own. I’m sure you can wrestle it back on if you push the pedal up and down whilst pushing the rod sideways. Then put a star washer on it or a collar with a grub screw in it which is available on eBay.

Yes I bought a grub screw but the peg will not slide onto the rod even after using brute force.

Looks like the master cylinder bit isn't supposed to go right along the rod, it's hanging on the end

If it won’t move along whilst moving pedal up and down I can only suggest undoing the master cylinder mounting bolts so you can angle the master cylinder to get it slid on, but having replaced one of these master cylinders myself it’s difficult to get your head up under the dash to see what you are doing

So if I remove the 5 phillips head screws to remove the bottom of the dash trim I can see better.

Then its remove the 2 x 10mm mounting bolts that hold the master cylinder in place.

Will I then have some wiggle room to move the master cylinder along the rod?
