Ford Fiesta MK6 (2007) 12V socket and Aux only working in certain positions/gears

Featured Replies

Hi all, hopefully someone can help!

For many months now my car dash cam will only power up in certain positions when plugged in and the aux plays up in certain gears and positions. I currently have a bluetooth receiver in the aux but I have the same issues with a standard aux line. Before I thought it was the equipment I had but now that the problem has been getting worse over time, it is most definitely the car. I have put new fuses in and seems to have made 0 difference.

Has anyone encountered this problem before? If so what is the fix! I ideally do not want to be spending a lot as will be selling the car in the new year.

Thanks in advance 🙂

On a friends fiesta if this age it was the cables getting caught up in the gear linkage under the gaiter

pull the gear gator down off the gear knob and unscrew the gear knob off the stick. then you should be able to lift the section with the gator up over the gear stick, you will have full sight of the cables. all mine on my 2007 fiesta were broke so i just removed them and wired in my own power for things but the aux port you would have to repair the wires. i dont have the standard head unit so the aux i just removed. there is (on the 2007 1.4tdci at least) a spare perm live and a spare ignition live in the fuse box behind the glove box. if your not confident in doing it yourself it should be cheap enough to get somewhere to look at it for you. 🙂

Thanks for the advice, I did have a look at the cables under the aux but nothing looked out of place, i pushed the wires more away from the gear box leavers etc but made no difference. I did however clean my cig lighter with white spirit and sandpaper which did the trick there - works great now. With the aux, I believe it must be the port itself being dodgy as currently have bluetacked my bluetooth receiver at a certain angle and now works majority of the time. Not too sure how easy the port itself is to replace though.

should be one of 2 options, remove the old one and plug in a new one (if its got a connector on the wires)

or cut and remove the old one and solder in a new one. if your ok with a soldering iron it should be an easy enough task 🙂
