2014 1.25 DURATEC bank 1 lambda sensor

Featured Replies

Bank 1 sensor error can any help find me the location on the sensor and which part I’d need. Heard it’s quite a common problem. Also heard conflicting information. Any information and help would be great thanks

Bank 1 means it's an inline 3, 4 or 6 cylinder.

When there's only one bank of cylinders they still call it bank 1.

A V6, 8 or 12 engine will have bank 1 & 2

You need to determine, from the codes whether its the sensor before or after the CAT

It’s coming up p0420 on the reader but I can’t tell if that’s before or after the cat

Thats catalyst efficiency,  measured by the down stream lambda sensor

You cat is worn out assuming there are no other air leaks, exhaust leaks or other issues with the engine.

The only way to confirm that the lambda sensor is ok is to use a scope as scanners are not quick enough.

I fitted a genuine down stream sensor the other day and wasnt expensive at all.

The upstream is expensive though.

If your not going to go to a garage to get it fully diagnosed then you could try the downstream sensor and clear the codes, chances are it will come back after several drive cycles, but you maybe lucky i suppose.

Sorry just noticed you have the 1.25, thought it was an ecoboost, so unsure on the prices.
