Dim Side Lights? Help Needed! 2011 TDCI Fiesta

Featured Replies

Hi All

Having trouble with the side lights on my 2011 Fiesta. Both bulbs each side are dull, dipped beam and headlights appear to be fine however. Tried changing bulbs with the same ones but the same... Any ideas? 🤔spacer.png

Thanks

Have they always been dim, or is this a sudden new fault?

Just noticed it's your 1st post, so highly likely we'll never see you again. If that's the case, sidelights are only 5W, you may as well light a candle for more brightness! If you are after something brighter, replace them with LED bulbs (CanBus error free). Don't waste time/money on cheap Ebay ones, get proper quality ones, they're not that expensive anyway. This is what my Focus looks like with LED sidelights (No other bulbs are lit!)

Some sidelights are so poor you’d think they wouldnt achieve the required safety standard.  Eg mk6.5 fiesta and my wife’s mazda2.      Do any cars still have ‘dim dip’ sidelights?  On my 1984 fiat uno and 1998 escort when you put the sidelights on the small sidelight bulbs lit plus the dip beam was on half brightness by using a coil resistor in the supply to the dip bulbs.   I always thought that was much safer.(when ignition off just the small bulbs on , when ignition on dim dip bulbs on)

Many years ago I had this problem on rear lights on an Orion. Turned out to be a corroded earth on the rear light circuit. Cleaned up with a bid of emery and was fine. Looking at age of your car could be the same problem.

if you want really bright then try led ones. i had the ceuk brightvue ones and they lasted about 7 months and the warranty was 6 months.

Or, if you want proper quality LEDs which will last, here's where to get them, and also a shot of the set I got for my old Merc, all bulbs individually labelled, and a nice trim tool to help install...

🤣🤣🤣 well that's just made me chuckle.  I just love it !!

You always have a photo for every occasion. Who else would have a photo of a set of LED's for a car that you mustn't have had for many a long year ?
