MK7 modification advice

Featured Replies

Hi guys, I'm new to this forum so I'm not sure if I'm posting this correctly, but seems useful to get some advice from other people regarding certain upgrades so thought I'd ask them here. Before I ask the questions, I have a 2012 MK7 Ford Fiesta Titanium 1.4L.

- Is it possible to upgrade the MK7 centre console to the MK7.5 one? (with armrest etc) If so, is it worth it?

- Is it possible to replace the MK7 handbrake trim/cover with the MK7.5 one? (the one with two parts instead of one large plastic piece) (this looks like the same at the bottom so I assume it's possible)

- Is it possible to change the air-con LED display and the trip computer display to have a blue backlight instead of red?

- Is it possible to replace the rear diffuser (not the bumper, the plastic trim attached to the bumper above the exhaust) with the MK7.5 ST diffuser?

- Any advice for performance tuning the car whilst still keeping it relatively efficient on fuel?

- Last of all, anyone have any modifications that they suggest?

Again, I'm very new to all of this so any advice would be greatly appreciated

My thoughts, in order of your questions.

Centre console requires most of the lower dash to do it properly, it fits, but not quite right.

Later cars come with blue illumination on the instrument cluster, so maybe a later cars heater controls might work?

Which 7.5 diffuser?  ST?  It physically fits, but, you need the relevant bumper spats.

Panel filter and cat back exhaust.

Make it stop and handle better!  That should be your first port of call when it comes to performance modifications.

Yeah, I'm looking at the ST 7.5 diffuser. My current MK7 Titanium doesn't have any spats (obviously) so I assume you can just get the ones from the ST 7.5 and they can be bolted on?

Thanks for your help too, I'll probably ditch the centre console idea if it looks out of place, the only real benefit is the extra storage which I wouldn't end up using anyway.

Not sure about the newer car heating controls, but I do know that the facelift uses the blue displays. Again, would probably ditch this idea cause it'd be too much money for too little change

The centre console doesn't look totally out of place, it just doesn't fit quite right.  I fitted one into my car, that's why I know it's not quite right.

You can buy the diffuser and spats, but, if you strike luck on Ebay, etc, you can get a complete bumper, in the right colour for around £150-200 which is about the same that you'd pay for the parts.

If you get the heater controls from a facelift car, with blue lighting, I'd assume they would be the same.  Could well be wrong though.
