Mk8 kerb weights

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I have been through the Fiesta sales brochures from 2018 onwards and Ford seem to insist on only supplying data for the "lightest" car with each engine when specifying the "Kerb Weight". Does anyone know (from V5C etc) the kerb weight of the individual models that have the 1.0 EcoBoost engine fitted. Zetec, Titanium (and X), Vignale, ST-Line and ST-Line X.

Thanks

WhiskyMac

The weight of potentially each car could be different depending on the options fitted. For example the panoramic roof would make quite a difference to the kerb weight.

Is it the weight of your car that you need ? If so then someone here with full access to the Ford Etis system may be able to find out for you.

If you need to know the weight of your actual car, see if any local scrap yards have a weighbridge that they'd let you use.

I think it'll be unlikely to find a member with each spec on here that can check their V5.

That's an interesting question. Just looking at my V5C, "kerb weight" is not mentioned as such.

You have "Revenue Weight" and "Max Permissable Mass" both shown as 1650kg, and "Mass in Service" of 1164kg.

I believe that "Mass in Service" is defined (wouldn't you know?) by European Directive as the mass of a motor vehicle in a ready to drive condition with a 90% fuel load, and an allowance of 75 kg for driver and luggage.

This "Mass in Service" figure may not apply to a specific car, it applies to whichever car of the same model that the manufacturer submitted for type approval, usually a base vehicle with a minimum of factory fitted options applicable to the market in which the vehicle is sold.

Ah, thanks for that. Mass In Service is what I am looking for then. So 1164kg is for an ST-Line X. Does anyone have a MIS weight for something like a Zetec or Titanium? I think the Vignale is off my list as it has a panoramic roof as standard and as you say that will add quite a bit to the mass of the car.

In my original sales brochure all 2018MY 1.0 ecoboost manuals are quoted as 1163 or 1164kg under the EU definition mentioned above, so my guess is that's the figure they used in type approval.

It may be different for other MYs of course as they have been altering the spec on what seems like a monthly basis since I ordered mine in late 2017!😀😀
