Headlight alignment query

Featured Replies

Hi all. Just wanted to check with you all about my alignment on my car headlights.

I think one needs an adjustment. Please see attached picture.

As I’m driving the passenger side beam seems to be hitting the car a lot closer than I think it should. however I would like to know which side should be adjusted and which way.

On an additional note, the vehicle had its mot last week and it passed with no advisory’s.

Thanks in advance

That's a bad MOT, that should've failed.

Adjust your manual headlamp height switch first just to make sure that is not faulty

Looks like RH too high, LH too low

If you know someone with the same car pull that up to a wall, mark the wheel positions on the ground and the headlamp beams on a piece of paper on a wall then put your car in exactly the same position and adjust your headlamps to the marks

or.... you can pop into one of the many garages that offer, 'free headlight alignment' (in the hope to gain other business) to have it professionally checked/adjusted

I've been into a local independent garage, (not the one that did the mot), and had it checked with their beam checking device, it was wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy off. It was £10 for them to correct it for me.

Measure 700mm up from the floor and mark on the wall and adjust the headlights using the yellow screw tops. Costs nothing
