rubbing / knocking sound coming from rear passenger side wheel

Featured Replies

Hi

i own a 2011 fiesta zetec Mrk 7 and last night i noticed a rubbing/knocking sound coming from either my front passenger side wheel or my rear one.

At first I thought I had a flat Tyre but after checking this wasn't the case i notice that when im speeding up the noise gets quicker and when im slowing down it gets slower i havbe checked around the tyre to see if any plastic might be catching but i cant see anything that could be causing the noise.

has anyone else experienced anything like this?

Possible wheel bearing failure.

What other options are there?

There are two other options

Take it to a garage. Or you could jack each wheel look, listen and feel for any noise or play, it is the only way you will find out.

i was thinking maybe a stone or something could have gotten inside of my brake drum which is causing it to rub

and to be fair the bearing is a good shout although i did have my front ones done when i bought the car and i didnt have the same noise as now also there isn't any play in the rear wheel

im a new driver so not too sure on all the options it could be

i have linked a clip of the noise it sounds like a horse galloping lmao

If you have drum brakes not so likely a stone but could be if you have disc, they can get stuck between disc and the brake shield, but like I said you really need to jack the wheel up and have listen where the noise is coming from. If it’s a front wheel there is also the drive shaft.
