Any android headunit things?

Featured Replies

Has anyone found any android headunits to replace the digital screen in these for android auto/car play? Preferably one that DOESN'T replace the original actual stereo so you don't lose the sound quality. The cheaper Chinese units tend to have very bad audio quality and a lot less bass output compared to the stock system.

Definitely avoid the Chinese Andriod units they go wrong all the time mine was great at first but after a good few months it would crash at least 4 times a day. Also, they overheat in the summer months and slow down to protect the CPU. I put a larger cooler on mine and had to remove the disk drive to fit it in. It was good after that little mod but then the freezing and crashing issues started some months later. I now have a Alpine F904D which has been good android auto is great for getting you around and playing Pod Casts although you need to have a phone connected for that a cheap £100 phone and sim sorts that out.

Hmm I was looking for one that wouldn't touch the disk bit as that's where to audio amplification comes from 😞

mine  is an chinese copy no make just model 7010B they do a 7012 and 7018 now too, what can i say about the 7010b. is it the loudest nope, is it the best quality unit nope, does it have wifi and gps nope. but does it work clear over bluetooth and sound fine up higher than i will ever need.... YEP.

something i say to a lot of people who ask me about car audio systems. how loud to you want it! how clear so you want/need it! if your driving about using the radio as background sound or just something to drown out the sound of the car in general then go for it get a cheap system most will do what you need and more. are you planning on going to shows or having the music up so loud you cant hear what is going on around you then yes you might want to look at a more pricey system with a reparable company.

the bottom line is like everything you get what you pay for but what you should also consider is do you NEED what you can pay for.

sometimes its better to get something cheap that does what you need than to get something expensive everyone else says you should have.

so to sum up, think about what you want/need if you want something that will work but wont win any bass or ICE contest then get a cheap system. if you want it turning heads and winning contests then get your wallet ready 🙂

If you get a chinese one with DSP the sound is way better than factory.
