2009. 1.4 diesel , immobiliser issue

I've got a 2009 diesel fiesta van, when trying to start it I turn the key and the dash lights come up as normal. Turn the key round further to start nothing happens apart from the immobiliser light flashing really fast.

I have gotten over this by a couple of methods on the web or by luck, but it keeps coming back and there doesn't seem to be a sure fired way of sorting it. Any ideas??
