Compression test Fiesta 1.6 16V - Do i need a special adaptor?

Hi all,

 

So the weekend i went to a do a compression test on my 2006 1.6 16V Fiesta, i got the standard cheap Compression kit (Red box) which looked good, but none of the adaptors would screw in. I tested the width with a calliper gauge and it was the same size, but seems the thread was not long enough? is this a common thing with these engines and can you recommend if you can get a longer thread adaptor? I have searched but not sure what i am looking for 🙂
