Misfire when accelerating after engine is fully warmed-up

Featured Replies

Hi everyone! I am a new member, although have read many previous comments as a visitor with interest.

I've owned my 2009 S-max from new and it has covered less than 40k. I'm a car maintenance enthusiast and recently used an EGR cleaner on my 2.0 140ps TDI.  However, before this it would always start on the key after about one rotation of the engine, but since the EGR clean it needs several turns to start. Furthermore, once the engine is at full temp and pulling away under load it misfires and tries to stall on me. Even worse, when accelerating hard there are multi-misfires and will not rev much more than about 2.5-3k, as if there is a rev limiter holding it back. I'm wondering if it's a sensor, injectors or worse?

If anyone recognises these issues I'd be grateful for any potential causes they can list so I may investigate further.

Many thanks in advance.

I'd start be carefully checking all wiring and connectors around the EGR valve. Look for any corrosion of the plugs and sockets especially the wires for the injectors. It is possible that you have disturbed some wires which were already damaged.

Get Forscan and a good quality lead and recalibrate the EGR valve
