Car tyre swap

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, I have been gifted some near new tyres (215/50/17 x2 Pirelli and 215/55/17 x 2 winter) can I install these in stead of the 205/40/17 that are currently fitted?

I have never diverted from what had always been on a car as standard but with being gifted these thought I’d ask and see what others have done.

Thanks in advance!

That's quite a size difference !!

I'd think they may be too large.

also, with 2 of the 'new' ones being specifically 'winter' tires, can you actually mix standard and winter tires together?

It's not something I'd recommend but I believe it is legal so long as the tyres on the same axle are of the same type.

Maybe a nice couple of crossply on the front and a couple of radials on the back 🤣

You do realise that it's only us oldies will get that LOL I miss all those 'public information' ads. Remember the animated one of the folk getting in trouble out in their rowing boat as the ad for the coast guard? Happy days, eh, happy days...

This was my favourite from the Joe and Petunia series.

Took a little finding but this will bring back a few memories:

I wouldn't recommend it

I found it LOL Jo & Petunia again

That's more Focus sized.  Way too big for a Fiesta.
