is there anyone on the forum with an econetic ?

To me the Fiesta econetic doesnt make financial sense.

Yeah it may be £0 a year tax but the normal 1.6tdci is only £20 a year so hardly expensive.

Also it is a stripped out basic model that costs more than a basic non econetic model.

To me a 1.6tdci Zetec makes far more financial sense.A good compromise between economy,low emissions,price and toys/comfort.

Unless you are really green or like plastic wheel trims and no toys in your car, I cant really see the point.

It would be a bit different if the other cars in the Fiesta range were high polluters etc, but they aren't. Perhaps companies prefer it as it may be lees of a tax burden for their accounts.

Econetic cars probably make more sense on the bigger cars like Mondeos etc.

Otherwise most modern mid sized cars are very economical and fairly environmentally friendly relatively speaking for vehicles.

Totally agree with Smudger, the Econetic is too basic, doesn't look as good either without the chrome trim and silver interior bits.

1.6 TDCI Zetec probably the best model for those looking to save money, you'd have to do a few miles though to get your money back, otherwise the petrols are excellent.

Good reviews everywhere for the MK 7, just a few below, note 5th most reliable car you can buy above Honda Jazz mk1.

What Car 5* - The suspension is soft enough to smooth out lumpy roads – even the worst bumps in town can do nothing to upset it – yet the car is still wonderfully agile and involving. The Fiesta is one of the quietest cars in the supermini class. The engines are extremely smooth, and there’s only a hint of wind noise down the side of the car at the national limit. As for road and suspension noise, they’re so well contained that you’d swear you were in a much larger car .

Evo - It has the firm but controlled ride of a truly rigid car calibrated by people who love driving, it leans hardly at all, and both brakes and five-speed gearbox work exactly as you would like them to. This is a great small car. The as-yet- unconfirmed ST version should be a cracker.

The only reason anyone would buy a Econetic fiesta is because of company car tax I reckon. It's basically an Edge, with a gimmicky name, green party reputation, low rolling resistance tyres and slightly longer gearing. The 1.6 diesel in a Zetec is about 100 quid more, I'd get that instead.
