Ford focus 2018 (68 Plate) range indicator wrong

Featured Replies

Hi everyone.

I've searched around the forum and tried to find others with the same problem on Google to no avail.

Bsically since I picked up a used focus in July the range indicator is waaayy off. I thought at first it was because the car had sat in stock at the dealer for a while and had meybe been left idling or done short trips but no.

It's a 1.5 deisel and when I fill it up the range is showing at about 195 miles..now in the real world I'm getting 51mpg and about 3-4x that range.

I've reset the trip computer and put about 4k mike's on the car since I picked it up but the range indicator is busted.

I know it's not the biggest issue but the fuel warning lights on all the time and it's beginning to annoy me.

Disconnecting the battery long enough to reset all modules might fix it.

Does the gauge show the correct level?

Thanks for the replies Alex and Tom.

Yeah the gauges are all displaying correctly.

Ill try the battery disconnect and see if that resolves the issue.

Did you reset the average mpg counter as well as the journey counter  ? I think the range goes off the average mpg

Could be the previous owner never reset it and it's a really poor mpg?

Yeah I reset everything I could. Range is the only thing it won't allow you to reset. The previous average mpg was about 44. Which should still equate to more than 200 miles of range.

I remember with mk3 I had a few years ago the range took a while to adjust to driving style but it's been months now and it hasn't changed.

I know this is an old thread,  but any success, mines doing the same, and I have the fuel light on at just under half a tank on the dash.
