Hi all,

I recently bought a 2018 ST line auto, lovely car, low mileage, 1 owner and seems to of been well looked after.

This car replaces a Smart Fortwo as our 3rd car and basically the car I use for commenting for work.

I’ve chucked around 500 miles on it in the last week and it drives great and really impressed with this small hatch back…. The only thing that bothers me and only slightly is the auto box mainly in the first 2/3 gears it’s a little slow and cumbersome compared to my other cars (bmw M4 and VW Tiguan both with dual clutch autos).

I’ve had cars and auto boxes remapped in the past and wondered if there is anything available for the auto in my fiesta?

Also will be looking at a engine remap as well and interested if anyone else has remapped an auto.

Looking like a "no" on this one, Alex. I do recall that when the Mk 8 was introduced the 6 speed torque converter auto was criticised as being rather sluggish.

Not seen any remaps for the box. Plenty from the likes of Superchips for the engine taking it to around 150ps. Several members have been happy with the Superchips remap, but not seen any do an auto.

Might be worth contacting Superchips directly regarding compatibility of their remap with an auto box, perhaps also talking to other tuners e.g. Mountune, Pumaspeed, Collins, etc to see if they have any suggestions.

I’ve been happy with a Superchips one on my Focus manual for what it’s worth. I’d say just accept if you go that route it may be a generic map and it’s at your own risk 🙂

I’ve fired off an email to a company called JR Tuning who claim to remap gear boxes so I’ll see if they come back with anything if not I’ll prob go with the super chips remap and see how I get on with it.

 

Just remember a torque converter is never going to feel as responsive as a DCT. (With maybe an exception for the ZF boxes in BMWs etc. )

Absolutely, if it can be improved I’d give it a try if not I’ll live with it. It’s not too bad and tbh I really enjoy driving the fiesta. If I didn’t do so much city driving I would of gone for a ST with a manual gear box for a bit of additional fun.

 

a little additional power wouldn’t go a miss so a remap will defo be on the cards.
