Hi

What lowering springs/coilovers do people recommend for ride and handling compromise

TIA

Anyone?

Need to find a forum with some younger members for these modification questions.

I've always preferred springs rather than coilovers for comfort myself. (Generally Eibach).  But of course they're not adjustable so impossible to get the perfect stance visually with springs.

I'm still a child nearing 50 lol

I'm thinking springs as still want the car usable

I'm looking at this for my MK3 Focus at the moment. Thinking maybe a combination of 20mm lowering springs and Bilstein B8 shocks.

First port of call is see what's available from the various companies and car mod suppliers...

For example:

Shocks: AP / Apex / Bilsein / Koni Sport / Spax

Springs: H+R / Direnza / Eibach / V-Maxx / PI / Mountune

There's your starter for 10... ask some questions with various suppliers and find out what combination is likely to be best for your vehicle and usage. 👍

I compete with my 2013 e/b, just small hillclimbs, sprints. I have Eibach pro lowering springs, stock shock absorbers and the ride comfort with that is excellent.

The biggest handling improvement I did was to add a rear anti-roll bar. https://ukwhitelineperformance.com/products/bfr80-anti-roll-bar

Dramatically reduces roll on cornering and dials out a lot of understeer on corner entry and is a doddle to fit.

Coilovers are usually very stiff, even if on softest setting. If comfort is part of your requirement, then I suggest to stick with just replacing the springs with Eibach Pro.
