I’ve been informed that you should tighten the bolts for anti roll bar bushes down whilst under tension - Do you HAVE to? (Seems impossible)

I need to put it on stands, take off the wheels, slightly lower the subframe.

I don’t understand how I could secure the subframe, attach wheels, put it on ramps/blocks and then still have access to tighten the bush clamp bolts down whilst under tension.

surely I will be okay to torque them whilst the subframe is still slightly lowered?

No you don't need to, when the drop links are disconnected the bar will be able to rotate inside the bushes, therefore there would be no benefit in having to put them under tension.

I have already replaced the drop links. Should I unbolt the bottom nut & then reattach after securing the bushes?

Just lube the bushes so the bar can move inside them.

Tightening on the floor is really only necessary for wishbone bushes as they're 'fixed' in position by a central bolt, putting the rubber under strain when the bush is twisted.
