Finding Serial Number

i have lost the code for the radio. so i removed it so i can get the serial number of the radio but after speaking to the dealer all the numbers on the outer case are not the serial number is there any other place the serial number can be found??? Its a ford Focus ST with a weird looking DVD system with these numbers on it:

    serials start with m------- if its not on the stereo then im afraid you may have a lot of trouble sahould be on the side or the top

    On some other radios the are tricks to them or certain numbers or buttons that could be pressed in sequence or held that brings up certain options or information like with some honda systems.

    And i've found out that my radio is the cd navigation system.
