Help with identifying parts

Featured Replies

Hi I'm working on my Ford S Max 2009 2.2l and was hoping someone can help me to identify the item in the photo.

It looks like some sort of control valve but I don't know which one

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thank you20221217_155112email.thumb.jpg.67d3fce1277d36728be4cadedaa8dbd3.jpg

Thanks TomsFocus

I'm relatively new to diesel engines, My last one was a Citroen C8 2 litre but was under the impression that diesels don't have throttle bodies.

The part you linked to does look similar though. Every day is a school day though.

Thanks for replying.

Most common rail diesels have had throttle bodies over the last 15 years or so.

You're right in that they're not needed for speed control on a diesel engine.  They're used for emissions regulation in conjunction with the EGR valve, and also stop the engine shuddering when switched off.
