Second Service

Featured Replies

Just out of interest what sort of prices have you guys been paying for 25 k services.

I have been quoted £131 at local independant ford dealer,

£153 at Ford chain dealer (but this includes the 12 month roadside cover offer and nectar points).

Dave

Sorry, I cant answer your question but how does the 25k service differ from the 12.5k service? Mine will be due the 25k service soon

Its roughly the same service as the 12.5 k ,the main difference (afaik) is there is a brake fluid change at 2 years, this isnt being done on mine as its only 1 year old,

Dave

isn't the 25,000 mile service the full service? If so, £153, even at ford doesn't sound too bad. I know we charge £120 +Vat + parts for a full gold service, thats for replacing and checking everything though, then theres about £30 filters and probably £25 5w30 oil. all that plus vat would be probably around £220, so £152 still sounds good! makes me sound expensive ey!

I thought 37.5 was the big service ,im not complaining about the price,I think its quite reasonable,I was just curious as to what other people had paid.

I have used the same franchise dealer for the last 5 years, but sadly they havent joined the free cover scheme, hence my move to the slightly dearer chain garage, but overall its better value as I wont need to pay out for AA/RAC cover.

The service sheets are on ETIS. You're right that 37.5k is a bigger service, with the spark plugs and intake filter changed, but otherwise they are all much the same. A minimal "12.5k interim" service might not even bother to check the handbrake and the condition of the hoses, etc, but there's an "12.5k interim plus" service which does include this and is little different to the "25k major" service. So, it's worth checking with the dealer what you're getting for your money when comparing prices. These standard services all mention the "extended period" items like cam belts, brake fluid changes, etc which are time/distance dependent.
