Hi all i drive fiesta 1.3i endure e engine petrol 51 plate with about 81,200 miles on the clock what it is latey the petrol seems to be going no were and its costing me fortune now i don't know if its me running is down to nearly empty and then putting in a fiver and thats giveing me abit that why iam back and forward all the time or theres something wrong is there something i can do to make my petrol last me cheers alan.

Start with the basics.

When was it last serviced.

What oil was used.

Are the tappets adjusted

Were the spark plug gaps correct did you check them

Are the tyre pressures correct.

Are the brakes binding.

Is the alternator continuesly charging the battery could that be defective check voltages etc.

Hope these help you on your way.

Thanks james i will get all the info on the car serviceing details and get back to you.

could try a bit of redex but atm 5 pounds worth of petrol is only 4 liters tht 2/3 of a gallon so it should only last u 27 miles ( suposing ur doing 40mpg )

Do u know how to work out mpg.

how many litres in one of your gallons then :o

there is only 4.54 litres in a UK gallon

Assuming that you do get 4 litres for £5 that would make it roughly 35 miles at 40mpg.

But doing lots of short trips around town you won't get 40mpg.
