Mk6 - Battery Drain

Featured Replies

Mk6 battery isn’t holding a charge when parked. Seems to run fine, no battery warning light and alternator is turning.

No lights are on. Just fitted new CISBO parking sensors so wondering if that is the source of the drain.

Any advice on where current leaks are most common on this model?

TIA.

How old is the battery ?

Have you had it tested ?

There is no battery warning light. The light with the battery icon is the alternator warning, to tell you the battery is not receiving any charge.

Battery is of unknown age.

I am assuming old.

The car was not started or driven for at least a couple of weeks. So it may have just fully discharged due to the requirements of the clocks/ecu.

I don’t have time to trickle charge the battery before Xmas. But will do so after, and see if the battery survives then.

Shouldn't be these, provided you are feeding them from a source that's only live with the ignition on.

Yeah. Fed from the reverse light switch wiring. So not on unless the ignition is on. I checked that.
