09 Fiesta Boot fault just before MOT

Featured Replies

My boot won't open at all, no noises or anything.

I previously replaced the boot latch because the old one was setting off the door alarm.

The first one lasted a few months but then refused to open. I could hear the motor trying to open but it wasn't doing anything. I had to open the boot the hard way. By removing (and breaking) the plastic trim, then removing the latch and the catch that it holds on to from the car and then drilling out the catch into many pieces.

I replaced that one with a brand new catch and also replaced the trim I broke. But now a month later it won't open at all. I press the button on the remote or the physical button and I get no noise at all. I've checked all the fuses in the passenger compartment and they all seem fine.

Before I break everything again to open the boot, does anyone have any ideas?

I was going to ignore the problem until I had the energy to deal with it but the MOT is due in 2 weeks and a couple of bulbs need replacing at the back of the car, so it has to be fixed.

Many thanks

Tim

Can you get to the bulbs from inside if you climb into the boot from the back seat?

IIRC you can’t do the bulbs from inside. Needs tailgate opening to get to the screws to remove whole lamp unit from the car body.

Yeah, can't change the bulbs from inside unfortunately.

Found this really good guide for tracing the fault, so going to give this a try hopefully over the weekend

That video is for the wrong version 😞

Anyone have a wiring diagram for the Body Control Module ?
