Left for Swindon after breakfast and managed a mile and a half before the clutch hydraulics failed on the MGF. Bugger! After getting it back home by starting it in gear and crawling up to the several sets of lights,  we set off  in Gordon's BMW through absolutely filthy weather. On arrival, the car looked as though it hadn't been neglected or smashed up, all four tyres  were matching Goodyears, oil life 99%  and the only thing to do was to haggle over the price with the nice sales lady.

Haggling successfully completed, cards duly debited and paperwork done, I left with a Magnetic grey three door Titanium with a pan roof and 26,600 miles. Freshly serviced and MOT'd, blessed with a year's warranty and roadside assistance, It ticked most of the boxes, at a price. Everything seems to work except for the stop start which probably will if it is fully charged tomorrow, the low profile tyres make the car appreciably stiffer which is not quite to my taste but the extra horsepower definitely improve overtaking as I found when I had to pass a learner in a decent looking Ka mk1. BLIS seems useful and I haven't tried the active cruise or park assist yet. The voice control  seems to work better than in the other car and It all feels very satisfactory but huge after spending two months in an MGF!

There are only about five three door Titania with  the pan roof option on sale right now, one looked very dodgy, another had ill fitting panels, one had paint far too good to be true, one was scruffy and had no options despite a high price and the last one had been walloped so this car was the best balance of compromises. Here's hoping it proves to be as good as the first impressions suggest.

Pleased you've found one you're happy with. 👍

Thanks. Tomorrow update Sync, put the rubber mats in and the jack and spare kit.

Rear discs as well. That was a nice surprise.

And find out if the MGF's clutch operating arm has siezed- if I'm not helping some geezer fill a boat up with animals.

My Start Stop hasn't worked since last year  - and when it does work you turn it off because it's annoying in stop start traffic!
I wouldn't worry about it.

Active cruise is good but needs to be used with caution  - if someone cuts in front of you normally you would take your foot off the gas or brake gently and let a gap reappear, Active cruise just slams the brakes on

Park assist is good but its quicker to park as you normally would, but It's fun to try.

My last car had stop start and I am an unashamed enthusiast of it as I live in a town and air quality is not wonderful. It reduces noise as well. Equally important to me is that I like everything to work. It irks and vexes me if something doesn't. Charging the battery correctly will almost certainly have it working after an overnight wait.

Pleased you've found something that you're happy with. It has been informative to hear of your experiences. It sounds like a real 'find'. 🙂

Once the wheels have been refinished. They are chipped and kerbed all round like only a woman could do, even given autopark and rim protecting tyres but I did haggle a bit off. The Sync dates from 2017 and I am ready to update that from the Ford server now before I get the latest config from Cyanlabs. Today has been about polishing scratches out and fitting the mats jack and spare. There is a tablespoonful of water in the spare wheel well; don't know if that is due to biblical rain or clumsy jetwashing.

One of the keys doesn't unlock the car keylessly but that is the only major snag. An amicable conversation with the suppliers suggests that they are not happy that the wheels are not as the checklist suggested and I am to send photographs. Further good news came from my insurers who me charge the same premium for the 125 HP car as the 100. As I cannot discern any meaningful loss of fuel economy, I am  quite content.

Key now fixed. Tried a new battery and put the key in  the sweet spot again. That seemed to reactivate it and all there is now well.  I have been instructed to get a quote for having the wheels fixed. will spend Friday afternoon   trying the local smart repairers.
