Mk6 Fiesta - Damp/Moisture

Featured Replies

2007 Mk6 1.4 (57k).

Got some water in the boot. Not very much, but the car is damp throughout.

Lots of condensation, VIN number in windscreen is unreadable because of condensation, seats are moist to the touch.

Any ideas where to start? I had the same problem on my Mk1 Focus (never solved) and my Mk8 Civic (cracked welds in boot), so am not adverse to having a dig around to find it.

I’m going to run a dehumidifier in the car and suck out some of the moisture that way, but there’s def a leak somewhere.

Drains on wiper panel at front of car were blocked with gunk  These are now clear. No moisture in front footwells. Pollen filter was dry as a bone when I replaced it.

Rear light units? A wiring seal somewhere? Weak welds or sealant? Any help would be appreciated.

TIA.

Start by checking the pollen filter is clean and dry. Is the intake plenum full of rotting leaves and gunge ?  Check the air exits in the boot are clear of anything that might impede the flow.

Without decent airflow through the car it will always stay wet.

Had two of these Fiestas, never had a damp problem.  When you say water in the boot, is this under the spare wheel on on the carpet.  One way water might enter the boot is via the upper brake light so that might be worth a check

Pollen filter was bone dry when I changed it. The intake plenums were blocked with gunk but they are now clear. The air exits on the rear are clear, as I fitted new parking sensors and ran the wiring through one of them.

Water is under the spare wheel, in the well.

Ill check the rear lights, all of them.

It is strange, as I have two of these. And my older 115k fiesta is bone dry throughout and has never had an issue. The 58k one is playing up with the moisture. Who knows.

Other possibility is that vent is stuck on Recirc ? Unlikely but a possibility.  Had a work Peugeot 504, and one of the other drivers complained about the damp, until I pointed out that the recirc was on !  Someone must have driven through Bridgewater !

I know that after the very cold week we had, and then we had the wet and mild period, the inside of our Fusion suffered with a lot of condensation.   And in the garage, two very cold cars and other exposed surfaces were running with condensation !

Rear air vents under the rear bumper are worth checking, seems pretty common across alot of different car makes
