Key not detected, will start with a door open sometimes

Featured Replies

Update - have retried the key with no remote and it starts every time with no error message so it looks like maybe a problem with the remote key, do I need to buy a whole new key or could I get the old one reprogrammed?

I’ve got a 2013 Fiesta Zetec s, I’ve recently started to get the error message “key not detected”, so will not start it does this with both keys one remote fob the other just a normal key. Have changed the battery in the remote key fob and checked the car battery and that is ok and not flat.

The car will start sometimes with one of the doors open slightly but is very temperamental, once started the car is running fine.

I just wondered if anybody else had come across this and where the best place would be to start.  Thanks in advance for any advice given.

The update has posted above the original question which makes it sound odd.
