Gearbox Slipping

Featured Replies

Hi

My wife’s car is a Ford S-Max 2010, Titanium X 240.

We are experiencing some slip mainly in 1st gear (or during kick down) and I have been advised to have the gearbox oil properly flushed and refilled.

Other than this gearbox is ultra-smooth and works fine

Just wanted to ask would you say that this sounds right or are there some other things I should look at before doing this?

No faults when using OBD2 port

Thanks in advance

Mark

Thanks for your reply

No bad smells or burning, and I will check colour tomorrow morning when it is light.

the fluid will smell burnt or be discoloured

Sorry for the delay in replying, does not seem to be a dipstick on the box had to loosen bottom plug and release a tiny bit of oil.

Oil is more brown than cherry red, does not smell burnt, but does not smell good either!

Question is, have read conflicting stuff regarding a Powershift oil change, some say needs to be flushed, while other say just drain (2 bottom plugs and oil filter) and refill.

Could anyone shed any light on this?

Thanks

Mark
