SYNC 2.5 does nothing

Featured Replies

Hello fellow ford peeps

Yesterday I got a lovely Festa trend 1.0 ecoboost 2020. I can not for the life of me get this screen to show a satnav or any apps! I plug in my phone, it says SYNC 2.5 connected and nothing else happens! I'm pretty tech savvy and was messing about for hours, nothing pops up, no option for android auto. My phone says it's connected to Android Auto. Really don't know what else to do,

I've tried multiple phones and wires. Samsung phones Hawaii phones. Just isn't happening, any advice?

Don't know the full details on this one, but I happened to be chatting to my local dealer this week and asked what the difference is in SYNC 2.5 and SYNC 3, and was told main thing is 2.5 doesn't have sat nav.

It doesn't have a built in sat nav, but here is from the ad

All the kit you need including large touchscreen benefitting from Android Auto and Apple Car Play meaning you can mirror the screen of your smartphone to the car's screen and use it as a Sat Nav.

I want to use my phone satnav on the screen like it's advertised and other people do it with Ford screens

I've no actual experience of 2.5 (which is why I was asking, current car has 3.0, but now its 2.5 as standard and 3.0 is extra) but yes, certainly was told you should be able to do that.

So, unless anyone here can come up with a simple answer, I'd be back to the dealer and get him to show it perform as advertised.

PS there's quite a lot of info in the owners handbook on possible issues with bluetooth, android, etc. If you don't have one you can download here:https://www.ford.co.uk/support/owner-manuals

Check for firmware updates on the Ford UK owners portal. There have been some recent changes to Android Auto so it’s worth insuring your Sync and Phone are both as up to date as they can be.

Just a thought. I don't do "tech" generally but recall trying things out when I got my car.

Installed Android Auto on my phone, but the car wouldn't find it. On the "switch off and start again" principle, I uninstalled and reinstalled it and this time it worked.

I have bought a 2021 Grand Tourneo Connect. I am dismayed that with this £22,000.00 car I have no Sat Nav. Ford "Customer Experience Specialists" have been useless and explained "we are not technically Trained". This department even asked for a copy of my Log Book to prove I owned the Vehicle, the Log Book is not proof of ownership in the UK. I still ask is it possible to get maps on the screen in the vehicle, the screen is a small display. I believe it is referred to as a 4 inch display. Can anyone give some information to overcome my plight.

Please post some photo's of the system you have, and then I'm sure someone will be able to advise.

Dash layout on these is pretty much as per Mk 7/Mk 7.5 Fiesta. A quick glance at the handbook online wasn't helpful - it mentions "with Sync 3" (which does have nav) or "without Sync 3" . You can pair a Bluetooth mobile and play music from devices via USB but no mention of whether it would support Android Auto.
